Breast Implants - Concerns Before and After Pregnancy

With the proliferation of young women choosing to get bust-enhancing implants these days, pregnancy and breast feeding is an ever popular topic between patients and their plastic surgeons. In addition, many mothers are interested in learning if these implants can help the sagging that has occurred after childbirth and breast feeding. Because your breasts play such an integral part in your pregnancy, it is important to understand the issues when it comes to surgery and your future or past pregnancies.

Implants and Future Pregnancy Issues

If you are interested in getting implants before having children, it really is an okay thing to do. However, most plastic surgeons advise that you wait at least six months after their insertion before becoming pregnant. Pregnancy changes your entire body, due to hormonal fluctuations, and it is always best to wait for your body to completely heal from the plastic surgery before subjecting them to even more changes. Also, this healing time gives you the best chance for a full recovery of sensitivity and function after surgery.

It is always important to note that not all women are able to feed naturally. Many who have had augmentation operations may be more likely to decide that surgery is the cause. However, that fact has not been scientifically proven. It is a proven fact that some women simply are not able to feed naturally. Augmentation procedures should not be automatically blamed for that. It is also important to note that milk which comes from breasts with implants is not harmful to your baby; there is no evidence to indicate that this is an issue.

Cankle Surgery Before and After

With the dreaded cankle terrorising women and men the world over, more and more people are turning to surgery to solve their lower leg crisis.

Of course there are many other options to get rid of your cankles than surgery, so I would not recommend going for something so drastic. After all, you're not actually solving the problem of why your cankles are there in the first place.

However, I do think it is important to be well informed and to have some examples of what your cankles could be like after the surgery so that you can make an intelligent decision.

Ankle Liposuction

If your ankles are chubby and lacking in definition, the chances are that you would be recommended ankle liposuction by your surgeon (although this is only if your cankles are due to excess fat and cannot be used to treat water retention or excess muscle).

Before the procedure you will have a consultation with a cosmetic professional to ensure that you understand the operation and are happy with it.

You will then meet with your surgeon on the operation date so that they can mark your ankles to show where the fat will be removed and where the local anaesthetic and cannulae (liposuction tubes) will be inserted.

For the operation, you will be sedated or placed under general anaesthetic.

It will normally last around half an hour, but the time can vary depending on the severity of the case.

Your legs will be tightly bandaged to help with drainage and reduce swelling and you will probably have your wounds redressed before leaving the surgery clinic as there can be some small leakage of fluids.

A few hours after the surgery, you will be encouraged to start walking to encourage excess fluids to be drained away by the body and the swelling to decrease.

Most patients will find that the ankles have 'settled' (bruising and swelling has diminished) after three weeks or so, but residual bruising may remain for months before fading completely.

Calf Implants

This procedure is most common in men or people with skinny cankles, although it can be combined with ankle liposuction to give a complete rejuvenation to the lower leg area in severe cases of cankles.

Before the operation, your legs will be measured and you will be assisted in choosing the right silicone implants to achieve the effects you desire. Some people may even choose to have two implants in each leg for extra definition.
